whatcha matcha?

It looks like this powdered green tea is making a big name for itself. Matcha is fast becoming the tea of choice for many stores expecially Starbucks. It isn't surprising to see this green tea gain in popularity as it is blended to create a great tasting drink. Personally I like it blended with half matcha and half vanilla powder to make it a bit sweet.

Overall, it's good to see that this venerable tea is getting the recognition it should. We have thought about carrying it and are still testing out the different vendors as each one has their own spin on this tea.

Read the great article below.

hot coffee in a can!

What else can technology bring us you ask? How about hot coffee in a can!

OnTech has created a can that can heat up coffee in a can. They have started with coffee and will put it into other drinks like tea. The can heats up to 145 degrees and can stay hot for 30 minutes, more than enough time to drink 1 can of coffee/tea. It looks like it'll cost about $2.25 a can. Less than Starbucks but is it worth it?

We can't wait for this to come out here the states officially and see how it works. If they have it for tea next year, expect to see it at Paper Street Teas, because this technology is just too awesome to not have.

For now, it's Wolfgang Puck who has licensed his name to be on the coffee cans and will begin selling shortly. You can pick it up at your favorite Krogers. There isn't one around here so if anyone lives near one, it'd be great if you can send us some so we can test it out!

holiday stress....relief?

There seems to be a direct correlation between the days to Christmas and the increase in stress. Here at the office, it can definitely been seen by not only the looks on faces and ragged body gestures from hours of shopping and waiting in line at mall stores, it can also be seen by the amount of tea being drunken at the office.

Initially it could be contributed to the cold snap we've had these past few days but talking with everyone, it wasn't the cold snap. It's just the stresses of the holidays. Even though most of us shopped online, there were quite a few things that couldn't be purchased online. This is also impossible if you have no idea what to buy people, but instead work on gut instincts when walking through the mall.

How many of us do this? Out of everyone here at the office, only a couple of us actually had a list of gifts that they were checking off for the people they love. Personally, I found this intriguing, as I could never just sit down and figure out what to get people.

Anyhow, the lesson here is to drink tea to stay calm while shopping. Another lesson which I always tell myself is to shop early.

From everyone here, we wish everyone here a Happy Holidays!

japan goes high tech in green tea

Some tea farmers in the Shizuoka prefecture by using robots to pick the tea leaves.

Some of these robots are capable of picking up to 5,000 kilograms of tea a day!

With the growth of tea drinkers worldwide, this kind of advancement is great and welcomed for the consumers. This will hopefully help ease the pains of running out of that great cup of green tea from your favorite tea house.

white tea better than green tea

Looks like white tea is better than green tea by as much as 3 times in antioxidants and 100 times better in getting rid of free radicals in your system.

This is some great news for the tea industry. Now it's just a matter of finding some great white teas.

blog this. blog that.

Seeing how busy it's been around the office because of the holiday season as well as the many changes that are brewing at the office, it's been really hard to find and blog about the latest tea news. Not only is most of the tea news pretty much the same, it can be downright boring.

There! I said it!

So to keep this blog interesting, we will be making it a general blog really. We will still concentrate on tea but we will also blog about other things that are going on in the little world of ours.

To start off....

What do you think about blogging for money? IT's different from just having ads on your site, because you get paid to write about a company and their products. The concept comes from Marqui and they have bloggers that will blog about their company and other companies. The bloggers get paid $800/mth to blog about some product good or bad.

I don't see anything wrong with that per se. As long as you can be honest, why the heck not? What really got my interests piqued was that one of the bloggers is someone we know...it's someone from clip-n-seal. Pretty interesting.

Anyhow, I wouldn't be remissed if they contacted me to get paid for blogging. Why the heck not?

tea me up, calm me down

Here's another interesting article about tea, except this one really focuses on the gift aspect of the teas.

It's really great to see so much news about tea and seeing tea taking center stage in many peoples lives now that there are higher quality teas that taste better and richer and there are so many places to go to and get educated about teas and try some of them.

Check out hte article and then get yourself hooked on tea at Paper Street Teas
