Tea is the new coffee

Call me sacreligious, but I had actually gone into a Starbucks yesterday and what did I find? First off, they changed their menus, so it actually looks better, instead of what they used to have, which were like chalk boards or something. These new signs look really pretty.

But what really blew my mind away was thay they are totally pimping out their green tea line by Tazo. They are now featuring the green tea frappuccinos, which of course we all knew could be done and made really good. Here's the kicker though. They had this table full of their green tea stuff and you know what they had? A green tea margarita shaker thing. It looks like a margarita shaker made with a green tinted plastic and you're supposed to mix it with tea and lemonade. I've tried it and it's not too shabby.

It looks like this could be there new strategy for growth as they can't count on new stores being the sole method of growth as they are cannibalizing their own stores in certain locations like in Manhattan and Los Angeles where you can find one every few blocks.

It looks like tea will be the new coffee now that Starbucks has decided to fully back tea based drinks.
